How to Set Up a LinkedIn Company Page (Step-by-Step)

LinkedIn Company Pages are the most underused platform for local and professional service businesses. Everyone has a personal profile — almost nobody has a properly set up company page.

Here's how to create one that works.

Who Needs a LinkedIn Company Page?

Every business, but especially:

  • B2B companies — LinkedIn is where your buyers research vendors

  • Professional services — lawyers, accountants, consultants, financial advisors

  • Coaches and consultants — establish credibility beyond your personal brand

  • Real estate agents — attract commercial clients and referral partners

  • Anyone hiring — candidates look at your Company Page before applying

Step 1: Create the Page

  • Go to linkedin.com/company/setup/new
  • Choose Company (not Showcase Page)
  • Enter your company name, URL, industry, and size
  • Confirm you're authorized to represent this organization
  • Click Create page
  • Step 2: Add Your Visual Assets

Logo: 300x300 pixels. Same logo you use everywhere else — consistency matters.

Cover image: 1128x191 pixels. Use a branded graphic, a team photo, or a shot of your work. This is prime real estate — don't leave it blank.

Step 3: Write Your About Section (This Is Where Most People Fail)

LinkedIn gives you 2,000 characters for your About section. Most companies write two sentences and call it done. Don't do that.

LinkedIn's algorithm indexes your About section for search. More text = more keywords = more discoverability.

    What to include:

Paragraph 1 — What you do and who you serve:
Lead with the problem you solve, not your company history. "Small businesses struggle to maintain a consistent social media presence" beats "Founded in 2024, Glow Social is..."

    Paragraph 2 — How you're different:
What's your approach? What do you believe that your competitors don't? What would a customer say about working with you?

    Paragraph 3 — Your services:
List your key services with brief descriptions. LinkedIn indexes these for search.

Paragraph 4 — Location and contact:
Where you operate, how to get in touch, and a call to action.

    Example:

Most local businesses know they need social media. They just don't have time to do it well.

That's why Glow Social exists. We read your website, create professional content that sounds like you (not a robot), and publish to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, and 10 other platforms — automatically.

No content creation on your end. No logging into six different apps. No guessing what to post.

    Step 4: Add Company Details

Fill out every field LinkedIn gives you:

    • Website URL

    • Industry

    • Company size

    • Founded year

    • Specialties (up to 20 keywords — use them all)

The Specialties field is a hidden SEO gem. Add keywords like "social media management," "content creation," "local business marketing," etc.

Step 5: Publish Your First Update

Post something immediately after creating your page. An empty page with zero posts looks abandoned.

Simple first post: introduce your company, what you do, and invite people to follow.
